Sancheong-gun Stands Out as the Best Institution for 'Urban Forest and Green Space Development' Sancheong County Office, Gyeongnam.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has been selected as the best institution for urban forest and green space creation.

According to Sancheong-gun on the 19th, it was designated as the best institution in the "2022 Gyeongnam Province Urban Forest and Green Space Creation Project City and County Evaluation."

This evaluation was conducted through on-site inspections and document reviews of 18 local governments within the province.

Sancheong-gun received the highest score in the province in the comprehensive evaluation of 9 items across 3 categories, earning the top award.

Sancheong-gun has made efforts to expedite project implementation by promoting early ordering for dust-blocking forests, urban forests, and life-friendly forest creation.

In particular, by securing its own project funds and planting more than 50,000 trees, it is actively responding to carbon neutrality and the Green New Deal policy.

A county official said, "This is the result of efforts in landscaping and urban forest creation ahead of the 2023 Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo," adding, "We will continue to devote efforts to making 'a greener Gyeongnam and a beautiful Sancheong.'

Sancheong-gun is accelerating efforts to create beautiful landscapes through riverside landscape improvement projects such as planting willow species along the Gyeongho Riverside embankment, creating hydrangea flower roads along roadsides, and establishing canola flower fields in riverside idle lands.

Additionally, it has been implementing the Gyeongho Bridge Petunia Tree Group installation project, which has been blooming beautiful flowers for over 20 years, and was selected for the 2023 Korea Forest Service Hibiscus Creation Contest project, planning to plant hibiscus around the 6.25 War Veterans Memorial Park.
