[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will conduct a ‘Special Safety Management Inspection’ in December on the village bus companies related to the Cheongsapo safety accident that occurred on December 12.

This special inspection was decided to prevent the recurrence of safety accidents like the village bus accident that occurred in Cheongsapo, Haeundae on the 12th, and the inspection schedule will be set in coordination with the police investigation confirmation and the jurisdictional district, Haeundae-gu.

Once the inspection schedule is set, Busan City, Haeundae-gu, the Busan Headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Village Bus Association will jointly visit the garages and terminals of the relevant village bus transportation companies to focus on inspecting the vehicle safety management status.

The inspection items include ▲illegal vehicle structure modifications and other vehicle safety management status ▲tire wear and other management status ▲damage to vehicle interior seats, hygiene and cleaning status ▲presence and management status of indoor fire extinguishers, etc. The city plans to impose administrative measures such as fines and improvement orders within the scope prescribed by the Automobile Management Act and the Passenger Transport Service Act for each violation.

Jung Im-su, Director of the City Transportation Bureau, said, “We will continue to inspect commercial passenger vehicles so that citizens can use village buses with peace of mind,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent safety accidents by guiding transportation operators to conduct voluntary and frequent self-inspections.”

From September to October this year, Busan City pointed out 112 cases during the village bus safety management guidance inspection and took administrative actions (8 fines, 84 improvement orders, 20 on-site corrections).
