[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 16th that it has appointed retired Army Colonel Jeon Ha-gyu as the new spokesperson.
The Ministry of National Defense welcomed a new spokesperson after eight months since former spokesperson Bu Seung-chan stepped down in April.
New spokesperson Jeon graduated from the 46th class of the Korea Military Academy and has held key positions in the public affairs sector, including Chief of the Public Affairs Office at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Public Affairs Director at the Army Headquarters, and Chief of Public Affairs at the ROK-US Combined Forces Command. He is recognized as an expert in military media and public relations.
The Ministry of National Defense explained the background of Jeon's appointment, stating, "He possesses a balanced perspective on the military and the media and has sincere communication capabilities," adding, "Based on his extensive experience and understanding of national defense overall, including government security policies, he is the right person to lead defense public affairs and policy promotion."
