Naju-si to Hold 'Municipal Choir Special Concert' at Cultural Arts Center on 22nd

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it will hold a free performance of the ‘Municipal Choir Special Concert’ at 7:30 PM on the 22nd at the Culture and Arts Center.

This concert is planned as a modern choral stage arranged with hit songs of the beloved national singing king (歌王) ‘Jo Yongpil’, loved by people of all ages regardless of gender.

The Municipal Choir (Artistic Director Jeon Jin) will present a ‘show choir’ performance combining the choir members’ singing with violin solos, band collaborations, dazzling lighting, and choreography, in two parts (85 minutes total), raising audience expectations.

In the first part, the choir will perform mixed-gender choral arrangements of the king’s precious masterpieces such as ‘Bounce’, ‘San Jangui Yeoin’ (The Woman of the Mountain Lodge), ‘Dorawayo Busanhange’ (Come Back to Busan Port), ‘Baramui Norae’ (Song of the Wind), ‘Danbalmeori’ (Short Hair), ‘Gochujamjari’ (Dragonfly), and ‘Geudae Balkiri Meomuneun Got’ (Where Your Footsteps Stay).

In the second part, they will perform immortal masterpieces including ‘Biryeon’ (Male Choir), ‘Motsalketda Kkekkori’ (Female Choir), and songs like ‘Q’, ‘Kkum’ (Dream), ‘Chinguyo’ (Friend), ‘Mijiui Segye’ (Unknown World), and ‘Monalisa’. A surprise encore performance is also prepared to thank the audience’s cheers and support.

This free performance will comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as wearing masks and hand sanitization.

Admission by prior reservation requires sending a text message with the number of tickets and names to the contact person in the Culture and Arts Department.

On-site tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from the front seats starting at 6 PM on the day of the performance at the entrance of the Culture and Arts Center.

Mayor Yoon Byungtae said, “We hope this will be an opportunity to break away from the static traditional choir performances, breathe with the audience, enjoy together, and add vitality to the daily life that has been difficult due to COVID-19. We will continue to implement flourishing cultural policies with various performances to satisfy the cultural needs of citizens.”
