Seongdong-gu 'Noon Cultural Performance Closing Concert' to be Held on the 21st Noon Cultural Performance

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will hold the ‘2022 Noon Cultural Performance Year-End Concert’ at 12 PM on the 21st at Seongdong Chaekmaru on the 1st floor of Seongdong-gu Office.


On the first and third Wednesdays of every month, the ‘Noon Cultural Performance: A Time for Rest’ is held at Seongdong Chaekmaru on the 1st floor of Seongdong-gu Office. This year, from May onwards, a total of 12 performances by 14 teams across various genres such as classical, popera, Korean traditional music, and dance were held, attracting about 800 residents to Seongdong Chaekmaru. It has been continuously held since 2018, providing cultural enjoyment opportunities for residents and artistic activity opportunities for cultural artists.


This year-end concert plans to select the five teams that received the most enthusiastic responses among those who performed throughout the year and hold relay performances.


The year-end concert will feature performances in order by ▲‘Rise Trio,’ which delivered fresh classical music ▲‘Contigo,’ which immersed audiences in the charm of orchestral music ▲Kim Kyung-hoon, a singer from the immortal song program ▲‘Fortunato,’ a grand and powerful popera team ▲and ‘The Kids Violin,’ which presented cool violin melodies in the hot summer.


Each team will prepare exciting carols fitting the year-end atmosphere as well as warm healing music, enjoyable for everyone. The Noon Cultural Performance will continue in 2023, and those wishing to participate as performers can contact the Seongdong-gu Culture and Sports Division.

Twenty-five Seongbuk-gu cultural tourism interpreters have been born to introduce and promote Seongbuk-gu, known as the ‘museum without a roof’ due to its numerous historical and cultural resources representing modern and contemporary times.


Seongbuk-gu conducted a total of 104 hours of new training for the first batch of Seongbuk-gu cultural tourism interpreters, selecting 25 candidates through interviews on the 14th. The trainees learned basic etiquette, Seongbuk’s history, culture, tourism industry, interpretation scenario writing and techniques, tourist response methods, safety management, and first aid.


The training held at the Seongbuk History and Culture Center involved experts in basic etiquette, various cultural heritages of Seongbuk-gu, and first aid, providing in-depth knowledge and practical field experience.


Those who complete this training must pass written exams, practical tests, and on-site demonstration evaluations. Only those who pass all stages will qualify as the first batch of Seongbuk-gu cultural tourism interpreters.


Participant Jo 00 said, “I have come to know more about Seongbuk, the city where I was born and raised, and have fallen deeply in love with its charm. As the first batch of Seongbuk-gu cultural tourism interpreters, I want to widely share the still hidden gems of Seongbuk with many people.”


Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “You who have challenged yourselves to become Seongbuk-gu cultural tourism interpreters are precious resources for properly promoting and publicizing Seongbuk-gu, the museum without a roof. Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that Dongdaemun-gu Dapsimni Library, entrusted and operated by Dongdaemun-gu Facilities Management Corporation (Chairman In Taek-hwan), won the ‘2022 Best Utilization of Library Big Data Award in the Library Operation Category’ (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award).


The ‘2022 Best Utilization of Library Big Data Award,’ hosted by the National Library of Korea, selects libraries and private companies that have increased operational efficiency and activated library use based on library big data.


Dongdaemun-gu Dapsimni Library earned the honor of a double crown, following its 2017 award for excellent use of library big data from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.


Dongdaemun-gu Dapsimni Library was the first public library nationwide to introduce library big data in 2015. It operates the Metaverse Dapsimni Library actively utilizing 4th Industrial Revolution technologies and provides customized library specialized services for Dongdaemun-gu based on library big data. Through continuous efforts to improve library service quality, it won the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for excellent use of library big data, laying the foundation for a future library.


A representative of Dongdaemun-gu Dapsimni Library stated, “Taking this award as an opportunity, we will proactively respond to the rapidly changing social environment and strive to spread reading culture so that we can fulfill our role as a future library supporting sustainable reading life for residents.”

Seongdong-gu 'Noon Cultural Performance Closing Concert' to be Held on the 21st

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will hold a carbon neutrality special lecture titled ‘Meeting through Green’ at 3 PM on the 19th at the Songpa Book Museum Eoullim Hall.


To raise residents’ voluntary commitment to carbon neutrality and provide a communication platform among environmental organizations, about 100 members from five organizations ? the Green Songpa Committee, Soli Nature Love, Songpa District Housewives Environmental Council, Nature Protection Songpa District Council, and Blue Environment Movement Headquarters ? along with residents were invited.


Starting with a pre-event performance, Part 1 will include ▲a lecture by Professor Kwak Jae-sik (Soongsil Cyber University, Environmental Safety Engineering) titled ‘The Earth is Fine, We Are the Problem’ ▲drawing environmental-related pictures based on the host’s explanation ▲and nonsense quizzes.


Part 2 will feature reports on the activities of the public-private environmental governance ‘Green Songpa Committee’ and presentations by each subcommittee. The Green Songpa Committee participates in various activities such as advising on realizing a carbon-neutral city based on environmental expertise and experience.


Residents who cannot attend the event in person can watch the live broadcast on the Songpa TV YouTube channel.


Meanwhile, since 2020, Songpa-gu has been the first autonomous district in Seoul to establish a carbon-neutral city plan and has been promoting greenhouse gas reduction projects. In October, it was selected as an excellent local government in environmental management in the ‘10th Green City Selection Project’ and received the Minister of Environment Award, leading environmental protection efforts.


Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Responding to the climate crisis is an important task that our society must solve through collaboration. We will do our best to discover and establish sustainable carbon neutrality policies and form a culture of carbon neutrality practice together with environmental organizations and residents.”
