KT Wins 'ACA 2022' 5G and Carrier of the Year Awards, Proving Technological Excellence

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 15th that it was selected as the best company in two categories at the ‘Asia Communication Awards (ACA) 2022,’ held online on the 14th.

In November, KT won awards in three categories, including ‘Telecom Operator of the Year,’ at WCA 2022 held in London, UK, and was honored as the best global innovative company of 2022 by being selected as the Best Operator at the ‘Global Telecom Awards 2022.’

The ACA 2022, where KT was awarded this time, is an Asian corporate award ceremony of the ‘World Communication Awards (WCA)’ organized by the UK telecom specialized media ‘Total Telecom.’

KT was nominated in five categories at ACA 2022: ‘5G (5G deployment),’ ‘Telecom Operator of the Year,’ ‘Crisis Response,’ ‘Cybersecurity,’ and ‘Digital Innovation Project of the Year,’ and among them, it was selected as the best Asian company in two categories: 5G and Telecom Operator of the Year.

KT was selected as the award-winning company in the 5G category by successfully leading the 5G standalone mode (SA) service based on solid 5G technology. In particular, KT received high marks for collaborating on the construction of a ‘5G shared network’ to expand 5G coverage and providing excellent indoor 5G service with an indoor solution created using five patented technologies.

Additionally, KT was recognized for its successful transformation into a digital platform company ‘DIGICO’ by being selected as the best telecom operator in the ‘Telecom Operator of the Year’ category. ACA highly evaluated KT’s innovation for presenting future development directions for the telecom industry’s growth stagnation, which many global telecom companies are concerned about, through AI, big data, and cloud.

Gu Jae-hyung, Executive Director of KT’s Network Research and Technology Headquarters, said, “This ACA award recognizes KT’s high technological capabilities in the fiercely competitive Asian telecom market,” and added, “KT will continue to lead the 5G market as the world’s best telecom operator based on solid network technology.”
