[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 13th that its self-developed virtual human 'Lucy' will make her debut as a live commerce host by presenting a product sales broadcast that communicates with customers in real time for the first time in the industry on the 14th.

Lucy began her activities as a social media influencer in February last year and currently has over 100,000 followers. She has expanded her activities into various fields such as new car launch event automotive marketer and promotional model for domestic and international companies. In June, she signed an exclusive contract as an artist belonging to a famous content production company and continues her activities as an entertainer, including appearing on golf variety shows. Lotte Homeshopping plans to accelerate its digital human business by debuting Lucy as a live commerce host capable of real-time communication.

At 9 PM on the 14th, Lucy will debut as a live commerce host on Lotte Homeshopping’s official YouTube channel. She will sell four types of bags, including the 'Wander Hobo Bag' from the luxury fashion brand Miu Miu, which is trendy and highly favored by the MZ generation, as well as three types of card cases. As a fashion influencer, Lucy will not only introduce products but also communicate with customers in real time and share styling tips. Lotte Homeshopping applied the latest specialized technologies such as visual effects (VFX) and real-time engines to Lucy for two-way communication. To commemorate Lucy’s first broadcast, a 'Where is Lucy' event is also underway. By finding Lucy in outdoor advertisements in eight locations in Seoul, including Gangnam and Gwanghwamun, as well as on mobile shopping and SNS, and posting and tagging on Instagram, participants can enter a draw to win a 'Miu Miu Card Case.'

Meanwhile, in September, Lotte Homeshopping signed a business agreement with the immersive content production company '4by4' to debut Lucy as a live commerce host. Through this agreement, the latest specialized technologies were applied to Lucy to enable real-time two-way communication. Based on advanced technology, Lucy’s activities will be expanded to various platforms beyond just entertainment and live commerce on Lotte Homeshopping’s own distribution channels.

Bo-hyun Lee, head of Lotte Homeshopping’s Media Business Division, said, "The virtual human Lucy, who has been actively working as an influencer, marketer, and entertainer, has debuted as a live commerce host and will conduct sales broadcasts. We plan to provide customers with a new shopping experience through real-time communication as well as product introductions, and will continue activities in various fields through technological advancement."
