Yangsan City Selects Winning Design for Urban Regeneration Project Competition

Capability UP!" and "Community Recovery Through the Space" as the winning entries in the design competitions for two projects: the "Junam District Youth Companion Vitality Center" and the "Northern District Living Infrastructure Center," respectively.

The winning works received high evaluations from the judges for their overall layout plans, circulation plans, zoning plans, originality in external space planning, and exterior designs that align with the urban context.

The "Junam District Youth Companion Vitality Center" is a complex facility that includes a book cafe, education center, senior citizens' center, community sports facilities, and village communal facilities.

The project involves demolishing the existing village hall in Junam-dong and constructing a new building with a construction cost of approximately 6 billion KRW. The facility is planned to be a six-story building above ground with a total floor area of 2,086㎡.

The "Northern District Living Infrastructure Center" includes facilities such as a senior citizens' center, daycare center, women's support center, and urban regeneration field center. It will be constructed in Bukbu-dong with a construction cost of about 4.1 billion KRW, consisting of two floors above ground and a total floor area of 1,352㎡.

Yangsan City has published the results of the design competition on its official website and plans to proceed with basic and detailed design services, aiming to start construction in the second half of 2023 and complete the work by the second half of 2024.

Mayor Na Dong-yeon of Yangsan stated, "Through the urban regeneration project, we will supply essential basic living infrastructure facilities such as senior centers, children's facilities, and small libraries to address the region's shortages and alleviate residents' inconveniences, doing our utmost to achieve this."
