Gyeongnam Police Agency Holds Awards Ceremony and Meeting for Outstanding Performers

NuriCops, Please Take Care of Cyberspace! Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency awarded prizes to outstanding participants in the 2022 Nuricops activities and to those who excelled in theme-based reporting activities.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency held an awards ceremony and related meeting on the 9th for the 2022 NuriCops outstanding performers and theme-based reporting activity excellence.

'NuriCops' is a compound word combining the pure Korean term for netizens, 'Nuri-kkun,' and 'cops,' meaning police.

They engage in activities such as monitoring information on the internet, reporting illegal and harmful information, preventing cybercrime, and cooperating with police on cyber policies to create a healthy cyberspace.

The Provincial Police Agency awarded those with outstanding NuriCops achievements in areas such as cyber gambling, extreme suicide, illegal games, illegal drugs, and firearms.

Outstanding performers received letters of appreciation and prizes from Commissioner Kim Byung-soo, commemorative plaques for excellent activities, and souvenirs.

The meeting discussed the seriousness of various illegal and harmful information on the internet.

Attendees agreed to strengthen communication to firmly establish civil-police cooperative security in the cyber domain.

Son Tae-sung, chairman of the Provincial Police Agency NuriCops, said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to communicate directly with the Police Agency,” and added, “We will continue to work hard.”

Commissioner Kim said, “I have seen many cases where small illegal and harmful information in cyberspace develops into major social problems or large-scale crimes,” emphasizing, “The role of NuriCops, which has prevention and blocking functions before harmful information worsens into serious problems, is very important.”

He continued, “We will continue to discover plans to support the activities of NuriCops members and actively award members who achieve excellent results,” adding, “We will also strengthen prevention and publicity efforts to foster a healthy internet culture based on the natural participation of residents.”
