Donation of 1000kg Rice and 50 Blanket Sets to Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation
In 2019, POSCO, Partners, and Suppliers Joined Forces to Launch Corporate Citizen Friends
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] On the 8th, POSCO Corporate Citizen Friends visited the Gwangyang City Sarang Nanum Welfare Foundation to hold the ‘Happiness (幸福) Rice (米) and Blanket Sharing’ event for the year-end and New Year, delivering 1,000kg of rice and 50 blanket sets.
The event was attended by Kim Myunghoon, CEO of Gwangyang Co., Ltd., Kim Yoonja, CEO of Samwoo Eco Co., Ltd., Shim Sangryong, CEO of Hana Tech Co., Ltd., Park Sangseok, Deputy Group Leader of POSCO Materials Purchasing Group, Lee Heejin, Team Leader of Gwangyang City Sarang Nanum Welfare Foundation, and other related personnel.
Corporate Citizen Friends is a volunteer group formed under the slogan of creating a community that lives together harmoniously. Since 2019, POSCO, its partners, and suppliers have joined forces to carry out community contribution activities, economic revitalization, and safety and environmental improvements.
The POSCO Equipment Materials Purchasing Office, along with partners and suppliers, jointly manages funds, which are used to support neighbors in need through activities such as briquette support, sharing holiday food, and assisting victims of natural disasters.
The ‘Happiness (幸福) Rice (米) and Blanket Sharing’ event was planned by Corporate Citizen Friends for the residents of Gwangyang, sponsoring 1,000kg of rice (100 bags) and 50 blanket sets to the Sarang Nanum Welfare Foundation.
The rice and blanket sets will be used to ensure that neighbors with difficult living conditions can have a hearty meal and sleep warmly.
Kim Myunghoon, Gwangyang Leader of Corporate Citizen Friends, said, “It was a happy time to practice sharing for neighbors in need in the community as the year-end approaches,” adding, “I hope this will help neighbors in the region have a warm year-end during these difficult times.”
Kim Jaekyung, Chairman of the Gwangyang City Sarang Nanum Welfare Foundation, expressed gratitude for the good deeds of POSCO Corporate Citizen Friends, who actively practice the spirit of corporate citizen management philosophy, and said, “The daily necessities donated will be delivered so that local residents can overcome the cold well.”
Gwangyang Steelworks, in celebration of the year-end, delivered 3,600 kimchi jars to local welfare organizations and, in collaboration with Jeonnam Dragons, distributed 4,440kg of rice (220 bags) to free meal centers, nursing homes, and welfare centers. The company is striving to realize a company that works with the local community by presenting a model where business and society develop together for mutual growth and coexistence.
