Gwangju University Holds '1st Literary Tour' at Poet Moon Byung-ran's Birthplace

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Department of Korean Language Education at Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 9th that it held the 1st Korean Literature Field Trip at the birthplace of poet Moon Byung-ran.

The literature field trip held the day before was attended by Korean students taking Professor Choi Jisoo's "Understanding Korean Literature" class or those interested in the event, as well as Vietnamese and Chinese international students. It was conducted with the goal of fostering humanistic thinking and encouraging students to pursue their dreams in a broader world.

In particular, the students reflected on the footsteps of poet Moon Byung-ran, who pursued the values of unification, human rights, and democracy, and spent time conveying literary messages through poetry recitation and a writing contest.

In the poetry writing contest held under the theme of "Life," Kim Yejin (Department of Korean Language Education) won the gold prize through judging by Department Head Kim Su-eun, Professor Kim Yun-hee, and Professor Gong Harim. Additionally, Park Hanna (Department of Foreign Languages) and Cheon Yugang (Department of Creative Writing) received the silver and bronze prizes, respectively.

Professor Choi Jisoo said, "We will hold the Korean Literature Field Trip every year to help students develop broad thinking that can move the world."
