[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, will hold the '2022 Mokpo Cultural City Cultural Harbor Festa' at Shinan Beach Hotel on the 13th and 14th.
Under the theme "Waves of Mokpo Culture Ripple with Citizens," this event is held to showcase the achievements of the 22 cultural city projects conducted in the first year after Mokpo was designated as a legal cultural city by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in December 2021. Various programs including academic events, exhibitions of achievements, and experiences will be offered.
On the 13th, the event will open with an opening ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by academic sessions featuring cultural city experts on topics such as "Direction, Policy, and Significance of Achievements of Cultural Cities," "Development Strategies for Successful Cultural Cities," and "Sharing the Value of Cultural City Mokpo," along with experiential programs.
On the 14th, the "Cultural Tide School and Local Tourism Creator Workshop for University Students from Five Universities in Jeonnam Region" and a talk concert titled "Talking about Mokpo Culture and Arts" will take place. Performances include "Singing Mokpo Poems," where poems by Mokpo-born literary figures are set to music, and demonstrations of the Cultural Day operation achievements. Various experiential events such as craftsman skill experiences, learning crafts from artisans, and tea culture lessons will also be held.
Cultural experiences are open to all citizens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 13th and 14th.
A city official stated, "We prepared this event based on Mokpo's cultural diversity to encourage more citizen interest in Cultural City Mokpo," adding, "We will share this year's achievements with citizens and continue to promote cultural city projects through communication with the community."
