Busan Eurasia Platform Holds Inauguration Ceremony for 1st Cohort of 'Busan Startup Shared University'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Fourteen universities in the Busan area have come together to support local university students' entrepreneurial challenges so that they can lead to future "unicorn companies."
A unicorn company refers to a startup company with a corporate value of over 1 billion dollars.
The LINC3.0 Project Group of the National Pukyong National University held the inaugural ceremony of the "Busan Startup Shared University" 1st cohort on the 6th at the Busan Eurasia Platform.
The Busan Startup Shared University is an entrepreneurship education program jointly participated in by startup club students belonging to 14 universities conducting the LINC3.0 project, with Pukyong National University as the organizer.
In this first cohort, 104 students from 28 teams across 14 universities are participating to challenge successful entrepreneurship.
The Busan Startup Shared University includes national, private, and technical colleges such as Pukyong National University, Gyeongnam Information University, Kyungsung University, Dongmyung University, Dong-Eui University, Dong-Eui College of Science, Dongju University, Dong-A University, Dongseo University, Pusan National University, Busan Institute of Science and Technology, Silla University, Busan Women's University, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University.
Starting with the inaugural ceremony, the first cohort participants will complete eight weeks of entrepreneurship education for successful startups until January.
The entrepreneurship education is conducted in an intensive mentoring format centered on actual startup cases, led by representatives of leading startup companies in the Busan area, senior entrepreneurs, and investors from startup planning companies.
The LINC3.0 project groups of the 14 universities including Pukyong National University plan to operate systematic and practical entrepreneurship education by linking with educational programs from the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center, and Busan Technopark.
After completing the first cohort, outstanding teams will be selected and awarded a total prize of 10 million won.
Ryu Ji-yeol, head of the LINC3.0 project group at Pukyong National University, said, "We plan to further expand sharing and collaboration so that startup clubs from local universities can collaborate, share startup items, and form inter-university startup networks, becoming an opportunity to grow into future unicorn companies."
