Toss Payments Surpasses 3.6 Trillion KRW in Monthly Transaction Volume

[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] Toss Payments announced on the 9th that its monthly transaction volume exceeded 3.6 trillion KRW as of last month. This milestone was achieved just two years after the company's launch.

Toss Payments is expanding its market share in the PG (Payment Gateway) industry by offering same-day PG integration and free subscription benefits for guarantee insurance.

At the time of its launch in August 2020, Toss Payments' monthly transaction volume was around 1.8 trillion KRW, which has more than doubled to 3.64 trillion KRW in two years. This represents a 44% increase compared to the same period last year.

A representative from Toss Payments stated, "According to our internal data aggregation, Toss Payments ranked first in the industry for monthly transaction volume for the first time last August," adding, "The transaction volume continues to grow steadily through the acquisition of major domestic e-commerce merchants."

As of last month, the number of merchants affiliated with Toss Payments was approximately 100,000, a 25% increase from the time of launch. The number of monthly new merchants, a key growth indicator, was 2,500. This year, the company has also actively begun targeting overseas markets.

Kim Min-pyo, CEO of Toss Payments, said, "As a partner dedicated to supporting the business growth of our merchants, we are creating market changes through new approaches," and added, "Going forward, Toss Payments plans to introduce various solutions to allow merchants to focus solely on their business."
