Goheung-gun Hosts the 19th Goheung-gun Volunteer Conference

42 Volunteer Organizations and Members Join Together

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that on the 8th, it held the 19th Goheung-gun Volunteer Festival at the Kim Yeon-su Room of the Goheung Cultural Center, attended by about 500 volunteers.

The Volunteer Festival is an annual celebration held around December 5, Volunteer Day, to express gratitude for the hard work of volunteers and encourage each other. This event was attended by members of 42 volunteer organizations.

On this day, starting with a pre-ceremony performance, the event included a commemorative ceremony and awards for 10 outstanding volunteers, along with a performance under the slogan “We love you. Thank you. Volunteers,” reflecting on the year’s volunteer activities and reaffirming the meaning of volunteering.

Governor Gong Young-min said, “I sincerely thank all volunteers who have worked hard to improve the quality of life for residents and develop the local community throughout the year, and I hope you will continue to passionately promote the culture of sharing.”

He added, “Goheung-gun is promoting various policies to cultivate Sorokdo, imbued with the dedication of nurses Marianne and Margaret, as a sacred place of volunteering,” and “We will do our best to ensure that the values of sacrifice and service living and breathing in Goheung spread nationwide and worldwide.”

Meanwhile, the Goheung-gun Volunteer Center has been promoting volunteer activities in various fields such as supporting local events, bathing services, hairdressing services, housing environment improvement, and laughter therapy lectures, together with about 20,000 volunteers in the area.
