[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) held a briefing session on the evening of the 7th in Shanghai, China, inviting about 70 logistics and manufacturing companies to promote investment attraction for the Busan New Port hinterland complex and the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone, in collaboration with Busan City and Gyeongsangnam-do.
Despite difficult conditions such as the recent resurgence of COVID-19 in China and the zero-COVID policy, these three organizations, which have established a presence locally in China, joined forces to promote Busan Port and the free economic zones of Busan and Gyeongnam.
The briefing session was attended by about 70 manufacturing and logistics companies, including the large heavy industry company 'COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry', pharmaceutical equipment and drug research and development company 'Tofflon', eco-friendly equipment manufacturer 'Chogohwanbo', and Yonghui Mart, the second largest distribution company in China.
This event was used not only for investment attraction promotion but also as an opportunity for participating companies to learn about Busan and Gyeongnam through a pre-event performance and the screening of a tourism promotional video for the Busan 2030 Expo bid, fostering exchanges between companies and business opportunities.
The BPA China Representative Office stated, "We will further strengthen win-win cooperation activities among institutions for the development of Busan, Gyeongnam, and Busan Port, and nurture and develop such models to lead to substantial investment attraction."
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, "This event, held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, will provide better investment opportunities such as logistics cost reduction and various business models through investment in the Busan Port hinterland complex to Chinese cargo companies, and serve as a catalyst to further promote trade between Korea and China."
