Starbucks, One-Day No Disposable Cup Campaign on the 10th

230 People Drawn to Receive Beverage Coupons

Starbucks, One-Day No Disposable Cup Campaign on the 10th

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Starbucks Korea announced on the 9th that it will hold a Disposable Cup Free (0) Day campaign event on the 10th to encourage the use of reusable cups.

This campaign, held on the 10th of every month, is conducted in collaboration with the Resource Circulation Social Solidarity.

On the 10th, Starbucks will draw 230 Starbucks Rewards members who use their personal reusable cups in stores to receive personal cup discounts or eco-star accumulation benefits, and award them two tall-size free drink coupons.

The number 230 is derived by multiplying 23, symbolizing the 23rd anniversary of Starbucks Korea's opening, by 10, representing Disposable Cup Free (0) Day. Customers who apply personal cup benefits using the Starbucks card registered to their account will be automatically entered into the event.

Starbucks has been enhancing customer benefits to promote the culture of using personal reusable cups. Since January this year, the discount for using a personal cup has been increased from 300 won to 400 won. If customers choose to accumulate eco-stars instead of a monetary discount, they will receive an additional 5 stars the next day for every 10 eco-stars accumulated, allowing them to enjoy various benefits from star accumulation.

In July this year, the cumulative number of personal cup orders exceeded 100 million since Starbucks began tracking the personal cup system in 2007. From January to last month this year, the number of personal cup orders increased by 16% compared to the same period last year, showing a yearly increase in customers using personal cups.

From June to last month this year, Starbucks plans to award the top personal reusable cup user with a one-year free drink coupon and deliver one-month free drink coupons to 23 customers within this month.
