[Seoul District News] Gwanak-gu Sets Up Donation Box in Gwanak-gu Office Lobby Until February 14 Next Year, Promotes Public-Private Fundraising Activities & Encourages Voluntary Participation from Residents, Religious Facilities, and Businesses to Spread a Culture of Giving for Neighbors in Need... Warm-Hearted Concert by Mapo-gu Ambassadors Kim Heung-guk and Park Sang-min to Be Held on the 13th at Mapo Art Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) held the "Installation of the Love Donation Box and Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony" to promote the "2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign" in the lobby on the first floor of the district office on the 7th.
The "Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign" is a public-private partnership project jointly promoted by Gwanak-gu and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to raise private funds so that neighbors in difficult circumstances can spend a warm winter.
At this event, the Gwanak Senior Citizens Association (President Kim Yoon-chul) donated winter supplies worth 47 million KRW, and Yonsei Geonwoo Hospital (Director Park Ui-hyun) donated 110 bags of 10kg rice, raising the temperature of love. Gwanak-gu employees and district council members also participated in the relay donation of love funds, adding warmth to the event.
The voluntary donation participation movement by Gwanak-gu office employees, called the "Hope Neulsarang Practice Movement," which has been ongoing since 2005, is attracting attention. This year, the district raised 100 million KRW through employee donations, and part of the funds is used to support about 1.5 million KRW worth of goods monthly at the "Gwanak Hope Sharing Donation" corner of the Gwanak Food Bank & Market, which serves families in crisis.
The Love Donation Box Temperature Tower, which operates until February 14, is set up in the lobby on the first floor of Gwanak-gu Office, allowing anyone to donate anytime. The temperature rises by 1 degree for every 18 million KRW raised, and when the total amount reaches 1.8 billion KRW, the temperature will reach 100℃.
Last year, a total of about 2.12 billion KRW was raised, achieving a love temperature of 117℃. This was used to support living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, and tuition for elderly living alone, low-income families, and single-parent families in the region.
In addition, the district plans to continue promoting donation sharing projects for the Lunar New Year in January next year, volunteer projects, and efforts to foster a culture of sharing.
Residents, companies, and organizations wishing to participate in donations can inquire at the Gwanak-gu Welfare Policy Division or each neighborhood community center.
Donations can also be made by depositing into the official Gwanak-gu account (Social Welfare Corporation Community Chest of Korea), submitting a cash donation receipt, or through contactless QR code donations using smartphones.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "This year is a time when precious sharing is even more needed for neighbors suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and flood damage," adding, "I hope that warm sharing for neighbors in need during the cold winter will continue this year as well, creating a happy Gwanak together through sharing."
The cheerful, thrilling, and refreshing representative mustache singers of Korea, "Yangteol" Kim Heung-guk and Park Sang-min, will hold a charity concert at Mapo Art Center on December 13.
Kim Heung-guk and Park Sang-min, appointed as public ambassadors of Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-soo) in 2022, prepared the performance with the meaning of a "Charity Concert to Support Elderly Filial Piety Meals."
The concert will feature the two singers' representative songs such as "Horangnabi," "59 Years Wangsimni," "Sunflower," "Farewell, My Weapon," and "Blue Jeans Lady," along with special guest performances to brighten the show.

All proceeds from this Yangteol Show performance will be donated to support filial piety meals for the elderly in the region, giving special meaning not only to the two singers but also to the audience.
