Active Promotion with Promotional Videos, Leaflets, and Banners Draws Global Weightlifting Attention
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Organizing Committee for the 2023 Gyeongnam Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships announced on the 9th that they were invited to the ‘2022 World Weightlifting Championships’ held for 15 days from the 2nd to the 16th in Bogot?, Colombia, where they promoted next year’s Jinju event locally in Bogot?.
The Organizing Committee visited Colombia from the 1st to the 9th, departing on the 1st and returning on the 9th, promoting the Jinju event scheduled from May 3 to 13 next year together with the Korea Weightlifting Federation, while conducting business consultations with the International Weightlifting Federation and benchmarking the competition.
In particular, on the 3rd, they attended the International Weightlifting Federation Executive Board meeting, and on the 4th, the special general meeting, promoting the Jinju event to weightlifting officials and receiving a positive response. Additionally, on the 5th, they observed the opening ceremony, and on the 6th and 7th, they watched the competitions and benchmarked the event operations and facilities, completing a busy schedule.
The Organizing Committee, which received enthusiastic responses in Uzbekistan in July and Bahrain in October, attracted the attention of weightlifters worldwide in Colombia as well through multifaceted promotions such as screening promotional videos, distributing leaflets, and banner advertisements.
International Weightlifting Federation President Zalud said, “I deeply appreciate the passion of the Korea Weightlifting Federation and the Organizing Committee for coming all the way to distant Colombia for next year’s Jinju event,” adding, “The International Weightlifting Federation is continuously making contact to facilitate North Korea’s participation, and we will do our best to ensure that all Asian countries can participate in the successful hosting of the 2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships.”
Organizing Committee Secretary-General Jo Jun-gyu said, “We thank the weightlifting officials who support the 2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships,” and added, “Since the Jinju event is an important competition that also serves as a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics, we will prepare with our utmost effort.”
The Organizing Committee plans to continue promoting the event to visitors of the outdoor skating rink operated at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium during winter for domestic and international publicity. Furthermore, in January next year, they plan to actively engage in external promotional activities such as attending the Asia Weightlifting Federation General Assembly in Qatar to create a full-fledged atmosphere.
Meanwhile, from November 28 to December 27, for 30 days, the Organizing Committee will recruit 80 volunteers in the fields of English interpretation and general support for next year’s event.
