Gyeongnam Office of Education Provides 120 Million Won Support for Students with Incurable Diseases

112 Patients with Rare Diseases Including Cancer, Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Conditions

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education will provide 120 million won in medical expenses this month to 112 students in the province suffering from intractable diseases.

The Office of Education announced on the 8th that it decided this at the Intractable Disease Student Support Committee held in the main office conference room.

Since 2017, support has been provided to help kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students in the province who are struggling with intractable diseases.

According to the "Ordinance on Support for Medical Expenses for Students with Intractable Diseases by the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education," intractable diseases refer to cancer or cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases that require long-term treatment and care, or 1,147 rare diseases designated by the Minister of Health and Welfare under the Rare Disease Management Act and its enforcement decree.

An official from the Office of Education said, "We will continue to promote the medical expense support project for intractable diseases for the health and welfare of students."
