[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Boo-jin, President of Hotel Shilla, has been named one of the ‘100 Most Influential Women in the World’ by the American economic magazine Forbes. She is the only Korean to be included on this year’s list.
According to Forbes on the 8th, Lee, who ranked 89th last year, rose 4 places to 85th this year.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee led Hotel Shilla to a return to profitability and is receiving industry praise for successfully leading the business, including driving the digital transformation of the duty-free business.
Meanwhile, Forbes selects and ranks 100 influential women annually based on influence, media coverage, and other factors. This year, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Union (EU) Commission, was chosen as the most influential woman. She was followed by Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank (ECB); Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States; Mary Barra, Chairwoman of General Motors (GM); and Abigail Johnson, CEO of Fidelity Investments.
