[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Korea National Oil Corporation gifted 200 boxes of side dish packages worth 20 million won, purchased from Taehwa General Market Merchants Association, to socially marginalized neighbors such as elderly living alone households in Jung-gu, Ulsan on the 8th.


This side dish sharing event, held in preparation for the winter kimchi-making season, was organized to simultaneously support traditional market small business owners and socially marginalized neighbors such as elderly living alone households who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.


The side dish packages, produced in collaboration with Taehwa General Market Merchants Association, included not only kimchi but also various types of dishes considering the preferences of the elderly, such as beef bone soup (gomguk), rice cake soup rice cakes (tteokguk tteok), black soybeans (kongjaban), and red bean porridge (patjuk).


The delivery ceremony was attended by Kim Young-gil, Mayor of Jung-gu, Woo Jin-ha, Head of Management Support Headquarters at Korea National Oil Corporation, Jo Jin-ho, Secretary General of Ulsan Community Chest of Korea, and Kwon Young-ho, President of Taehwa General Market Merchants Association.


Kim Young-gil, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, “On behalf of the residents, I thank the Oil Corporation for practicing neighborly love through side dish sharing every year. Please continue to take the lead in activities for the local community.”


Woo Jin-ha, Head of the Oil Corporation, said, “We hope this helps neighbors struggling due to COVID-19, traditional markets, and local farms, and we will continue to work harder for regional coexistence.”


This spring, the Oil Corporation also supported 200 boxes of agricultural product packages to marginalized neighbors. Through various social contribution activities such as career education for disabled youth, livelihood support and scholarships for children of multicultural families, and delivery of home first aid kits to safety-vulnerable households, the corporation has been leading ESG management.
