At 5 PM on the 8th, Deullak on the 3rd Floor of the Youth Center: A Forum for Sharing and Discussing Youth Policy Achievements
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 8th at 5 p.m., Busan City will hold the ‘2022 Busan Youth Policy Exchange Meeting’ at the 3rd floor Deullak of the Busan Youth Center with about 70 participants including the Youth Foundation, youth space operators, and general youth.
Today’s exchange meeting will be held in two parts. In the first part, a business agreement will be signed between the ‘Busan Youth Center’ (Director Shin Jaewon), which operates as a base space for youth participation and activities, and the ‘Youth Foundation’ (Chairman Jang Yechan), which promotes nationwide youth projects such as youth policy public forums.
Through this agreement, the Busan Youth Center and the Youth Foundation plan to ▲mutually cooperate and support youth projects ▲build human and material networks for the capacity development and empowerment of youth center staff.
After the signing ceremony, they will discuss ways to strengthen the job competencies of youth center workers, collaborative projects between the Busan Youth Center and the Youth Foundation, and ways to revitalize the youth policy delivery system.
In the second part, the 2022 operational achievements of major youth spaces such as the Busan Youth Center, Youth Doodream Center, Youth Jakdangso, and Youth Maru (Busanjin-gu) will be shared, and participants including key project participants and general youth will gather to wrap up the year 2022 and discuss the future direction of Busan youth policy.
This year, the Busan Youth Center operated with a budget of 813 million KRW to promote a total of nine projects in three areas: ▲policy support (visiting youth policy school, youth policy research) ▲participation and experimentation (youth governance operation, youth stakeholder research, policy laboratory) ▲activities and exchange (social dining, youth self-directed projects, youth space connection programs, youth exchange projects).
In particular, the ‘Youth Self-Directed Project’ is a project that supports various attempts and experiences based on youth self-exploration and local communities. Through the project, meaningful achievements were made such as cases of finding one’s aptitude and succeeding in employment in the relevant field, and attempts to develop characters and products based on locality.
The policy laboratory’s ‘Physical Vitality Program for Youth Preparing for Independence’ is a project created through collaboration between the Busan Youth Center and the Child Protection Independence Support Center by working directly on the ground. Based on the results of the project conducted until December, it will be used as basic data to prepare support measures for youth in blind spots such as youth preparing for independence.
To enhance the capacity of district and county participation organizations, this year’s ‘Visiting Youth Policy School’ and the formation and operation of the ‘Youth Space Connection Council,’ which links youth spaces based on living areas with the youth center as a hub, will be the starting point. Next year, through training specialized youth policy personnel, customized policy counseling, and operating center visit days, the function enhancement and promotion as a metropolitan youth center will strengthen the connectivity of youth policies.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Through the business agreement between the Busan Youth Center and the Youth Foundation, it is expected that the youth center will raise its external recognition and contribute to enhancing responsiveness to the government’s offline youth integrated support system project.” He added, “Starting next year, we will activate the operation of neighborhood youth activity spaces based on living areas so that young people can freely try activities they want to do in Busan and feel happiness and solidarity within them.”
