[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Professor Kim Young-jun of the Department of Neurosurgery at Sungkyunkwan University Samsung Changwon Hospital was invited as a speaker and chairperson to the '2022 European Society for Medical Oncology Asia Congress (ESMO Asia Congress 2022)' held in Singapore from the 2nd to the 4th.


The European Society for Medical Oncology is one of the world's top three cancer societies and is the largest international academic conference in Europe where researchers, clinicians, and healthcare industry professionals from around the world participate to share the latest insights on cancer research.


At this conference, Professor Kim presented on the topic "Systemic approach to recurrent primary CNS lymphoma: Perspective on current and emerging treatment strategies" and simultaneously served as the chairperson for the session "CNS cancer Session: Novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to primary brain tumours."


Over the past 15 years, Professor Kim has provided treatments tailored to the genetic characteristics of individual patients with malignant brain tumors, specifically primary central nervous system lymphoma, significantly reducing side effects and increasing the 5-year survival rate from about 27% to 86%, greatly improving patients' quality of life.


Professor Kim has been appointed as the chair of the Multidisciplinary Committee of the Korean Society for Neuro-Oncology and as the executive director of the Korean Brain Tumor Society. Since 2009, he has also been active as a consulting physician on HiDoc-Naver Knowledge iN to provide prompt and accurate information through online health consultations.
