[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is operating various workload reduction support projects to relieve teachers of administrative tasks so that they can focus on classes, life education, and counseling activities until the end of the year, and smoothly establish next year’s educational activity plans.
In November, the Office of Education produced and distributed a guide for the implementation of school work restructuring to kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, special, and various schools within Ulsan.
The guide is designed to clearly present the four-step practical procedure of school work restructuring, providing explanatory video materials and supplementary materials via QR codes at each step, making it easy for anyone to understand and conveniently use.
A total of 6,000 copies were produced and distributed differentially according to school size, and the files were also shared on the Office of Education’s website and the School Work Information Sharing Center for free use.
In December, a collection of best practices for normalizing school work centered on educational activities will be produced and distributed in file format.
The Office of Education discovered a total of 10 exemplary schools through a contest for schools excelling in normalizing school work centered on educational activities: 1 kindergarten, 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 3 high schools. These cases will be compiled into a collection and distributed to all schools in Ulsan.
By distributing the collection, the Office aims to share excellent workload reduction cases and support the generalization of various best practices by school level in the field.
In February next year, the ‘Month of Focused Preparation for Educational Activities’ will be operated. Among 93 training sessions delivered to school personnel in 2023, 52 sessions (55.9%) will be conducted during the focused training period.
Among the 52 focused training sessions, 15 will be real-time online sessions and 4 will be resource-provided sessions, diversifying the training methods. The training period will be extended from 5 to 7 days and will be scheduled to avoid concentration on specific dates to reduce teachers’ travel burdens.
Following February, March will be designated as the ‘Month Without Educational Office Business Trips and Meetings.’
In March, when teachers and students first meet, business trips and meetings will be minimized to support teachers in focusing solely on classes and student life guidance.
During this period, business trips and group meetings for administrators and teachers are prohibited, and in cases where meetings are unavoidable due to their purpose and nature, only administrators will attend.
An Office of Education official said, “Through timely workload reduction support projects, we will relieve teachers of administrative tasks so they can concentrate on educational activities such as classes and life education.”
The official added, “We will support the smooth establishment of next year’s educational activity plans so that all members of schools can create an environment where they can focus solely on student education, and all departments and institutions will do their best together.”
