[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] KOTRA announced on the 8th that it held the 'Digital Healthcare Innovation Conference' in Bangkok, Thailand, together with Naver Cloud.

The two-day conference, which started the day before, was held to support the overseas expansion of domestic small and medium-sized information and communication technology (ICT) companies. Given the high growth potential of the Thai digital healthcare market, this was the second conference following the one held last August.

The conference was held under the theme of 'Digital Wellbeing.' About 300 people, including representatives from over 50 local hospitals, attended. Speakers included officials from the Thai Ministry of Public Health and university hospitals. Presentations covered the latest ICT-based healthcare technologies such as digital healthcare industry trends in both countries, telemedicine, artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostics, and medical data services.

At the partnership consultation meeting, eight domestic digital healthcare companies participating in the 'Large and Small Business Joint Entry Support Project,' led by Naver Cloud, held consultations with local hospital officials and buyers. Thai big tech companies such as AIS, TRUE, and SCG also discussed cooperation with domestic digital healthcare firms.

The Thai government has identified 'Healthcare' as a key project under its digital promotion policy, 'Thailand 4.0.' The Thai Ministry of Public Health is also promoting a plan to make Thailand a medical hub of ASEAN by establishing an 'e-Health Strategic Roadmap.' They are providing services linked with various digital medical solutions by building a smart health platform called Kin-Yoo-Dee.

At this event, domestic participant company A held a joint venture (JV) establishment ceremony with a Thai digital healthcare company to introduce genetic analysis solutions in Thailand. Naver Cloud also signed agreements with the Thailand Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) and major local hospitals to strengthen collaboration in the smart city and smart healthcare sectors.

Jung Wooyoung, head of KOTRA's Innovation Growth Headquarters, said, "Globally, with environmental and aging population issues, the importance of digital wellbeing and smart healthcare industries is gradually increasing. We will actively support excellent domestic SMEs to pioneer export routes into the ASEAN digital healthcare market and create new opportunities for cooperation."
