[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Actor Kang Seok-woo donated 20 million won to Seoul Asan Medical Center to be used for pediatric cancer patients.
This donation was made from the modeling fee Kang and his wife Na Yeon-shin received for appearing in a Vegemil commercial. Kang said, "I decided to donate because I wanted to support children who are bravely fighting a disease that is hard even for adults to endure with their small bodies," adding, "I hope that sick children can complete their treatment without financial burden and go out into the wide world to play freely."
Kang has long shown interest in pediatric patients by serving as the chairman of the sponsorship committee for the Korea Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity that grants wishes to children with incurable diseases. He has also practiced a unique philosophy of giving by supporting various charities such as the Korea Children's Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.
Seoul Asan Medical Center plans to use Kang's donation to support the medical expenses of underprivileged pediatric cancer patients.
