[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Former U.S. President Donald Trump's team reportedly found at least two missing classified documents in a warehouse in West Palm Beach, Florida, and returned them to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), according to reports by The Washington Post (WP) and others on the 7th (local time).
According to the reports, Trump's team recently hired a private search team over the past few weeks to search Mar-a-Lago residence, Trump Tower in New York, and Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey. Besides the Florida warehouse, no classified documents were found during the searches of Trump Tower and Bedminster Golf Club.
This action came after a federal judge urged verification that Trump's team fully complied with a subpoena demanding the submission of all missing classified documents. It is also analyzed as a move by Trump's team, who declared candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, to avoid further high-intensity searches by judicial authorities.
Trump is under investigation for allegedly removing some government classified documents, including a personal letter from North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, from the White House to his Mar-a-Lago residence upon leaving office in January 2021. Earlier, when the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago in Florida in August, thousands of pages of government documents were found, over 100 of which were classified or highly secured.
Additionally, the day before, a New York State district court jury delivered guilty verdicts on all 17 charges against Trump Group businesses, including criminal tax fraud and corporate document manipulation, dealing a significant blow to former President Trump. As a result of this verdict, Trump Group is expected to pay fines up to $1.6 million. The New York State district court will determine the specific fine amount and sentencing at the trial on January 13 next year.
