The main review by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee will take place from the 7th to the 9th, and the 2023 Jinju City main budget is scheduled to be finalized after deliberation and resolution based on the committee’s review report at the 3rd plenary session on the 12th.
Prior to this, the 2023 Jinju City main budget proposal underwent preliminary reviews by standing committees from the 1st to the 6th.
The originally submitted budget proposal by the city was 1.9711 trillion KRW, an increase of 171.9 billion KRW (9.5%) compared to this year’s main budget, but some cuts were made during the preliminary review.

Seo Jeong-in, chairman of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, said, “Having served as the chairman of the budget review for the 2018 and 2022 main budgets during the 7th and 8th city councils, this is already my third time as chairman of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, which is very meaningful to me.” He added, “I feel an even greater sense of responsibility as I take on this important role during these difficult times of triple hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, high inflation, high exchange rates, and high oil prices.”
He continued, “Since the enormous budget close to 2 trillion KRW is made up of precious taxpayers’ money, I will conduct a thorough review with a firm sense of mission to represent the citizens together with my fellow council members.”
