Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum and Nampo Art Museum Hold Collaborative Buncheong Ware Special Exhibition

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum announced that from the 7th until January 20th of next year, it will hold a collaborative planned exhibition titled "Modern Buncheong Ceramics" at the Nampo Art Museum in Yeongnam-myeon.

This exhibition is the first attempt in collaboration with the region's representative cultural and artistic institution, Nampo Art Museum (Director Gwak Hyeong-su), to expand local craft culture. It will showcase about 20 works and aims to explore directions for the development of local craft culture and various approaches.

Under the theme "The Melody of Buncheong Ceramics," three resident artists of the Buncheong Culture Museum?Kim Seol-hwa, Yoon Jun-ho, and Park Jeong-min?used mixed clay distributed in Undae-ri, Duwon-myeon, Goheung, to capture the charm of Buncheong ceramics in their respective works. Visitors to Nampo Art Museum during the exhibition period can experience interpretations of modern Buncheong ceramics all in one place.

Artist Kim Seol-hwa depicted the representative Goheung legend "Yongchu and Yongbawi" using traditional inlay techniques; artist Yoon Jun-ho expressed Goheung's nature and scenery with the theme "The Life I Live + Goheung" using the stamping technique; artist Park Jeong-min effectively expressed the characteristics and rhythm of clay through repetitive actions.

The lively incisions and diverse colors in the exhibited works are expressed like a flow of music, and notably, the arrangement of modern decorative elements harmonized with traditional Undae-ri Buncheong ceramics is very impressive.

A representative of the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum said, "Taking this exhibition as an opportunity, we will promote Goheung as the center of Buncheong ceramics in Korea and enhance its status by pursuing various collaborative projects so that local residents can enjoy the modernized Undae-ri Buncheong ceramic culture."

Additionally, Nampo Art Museum Director Gwak Hyeong-su stated, "We are pleased to prepare an exhibition that can be shared with local residents through continuous exchange with the Buncheong Culture Museum," and added, "We will continue to cooperate with local cultural and artistic institutions to broadly provide opportunities for local residents to enjoy culture and arts and strive for the development of local culture and arts."

Goheung County plans to continuously discover and promote various cooperative projects targeting local art museums and museums, starting with this exhibition.
