[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] SK Rent-a-Car announced on the 7th that it has become the first in the industry to obtain the 'Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO45001) certification' from the British Standards Institution (BSI), an international standard certification body.
The ISO45001 certification is the highest level international standard certification in the field of occupational health and safety established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to prevent various risks that may occur in workplaces and create a safe working environment. In Korea, with the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, awareness of safety has increased, and the trend of companies acquiring certification across all industrial sectors is spreading.
To obtain this certification, SK Rent-a-Car newly established and announced its occupational health and safety management policy and created a dedicated organization. It built a high-level occupational health and safety management system that meets international standards by analyzing and improving risk factors in all workplaces and partner companies.
Specifically, the company made company-wide efforts such as ▲internal auditor self-assessment by personnel holding safety and health-related certifications ▲activities to strengthen members' safety awareness ▲increased investment in safety and health areas including facilities, diagnostics, and systems ▲activation of the Industrial Safety and Health Committee and safety and health councils. As a result, it received excellent evaluations from the certification body and succeeded in obtaining the certification.
Going forward, SK Rent-a-Car plans to advance the operation and evaluation system of the occupational health and safety management system for the safety and health of its members and stakeholders. It will continuously strengthen the response system to prevent risks.
Meanwhile, as an industry-leading company, SK Rent-a-Car continues its efforts to establish management systems that meet international standards. In addition to this occupational health and safety management system certification, it has officially been recognized for its ESG management achievements by consecutively obtaining international standard certifications such as Quality Management System (ISO9001) and Environmental Management System (ISO14001) in 2007, and Anti-Corruption Management System (ISO37001) last November.
An SK Rent-a-Car official said, “This certification is the result of external recognition of our commitment to prioritize the safety and health of our members,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a safe and satisfying work environment for our members from an ESG perspective.”
