National Scholarship Applications for 1st Semester Law School Start from the 7th

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation will begin accepting applications for the 2023 academic year first semester National Scholarship for Law Schools starting from the 7th.

The National Scholarship for Law Schools is a scholarship supported by the government and schools based on income brackets since 2016, designed to help students from vulnerable groups focus on their studies without the burden of tuition fees.

The scholarship application process is divided into two periods: from the 7th to 6 PM on the 23rd, and from January 4th to 6 PM on the 13th next year. New and current law school students can apply through the Korea Student Aid Foundation website.

Students who are basic livelihood security recipients or fall within income bracket 3 or below for law schools will receive full tuition support from the national treasury. Students exceeding income bracket 3 will receive differential support considering the financial conditions of their enrolled (or expected) schools: over 90% for bracket 4, over 80% for bracket 5, and over 70% for bracket 6.

The Ministry of Education allocates national treasury scholarships to each law school annually, taking into account the scholarship payment rate relative to tuition fees, year-on-year changes in scholarship amounts, and tuition levels.

Applicants must complete consent for household member information provision and submit documents by 6 PM on January 17th. Consent for household member information provision utilizes electronic signature methods (certificates) such as joint certificates, financial certificates, and private certificates.

Household members subject to consent include parents or spouses. If household members are residing overseas, or if consent via certificate is difficult due to old age or rural residence, document submission is also possible.
