[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The National Police Agency announced on the 7th that Ulsan Bukbu Police Station won the grand prize at the first-ever 'Integrity Excellence Police Station Competition' held this year.


At the competition held the previous day at the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Ulsan Bukbu Police Station was recognized for planning diverse and creative anti-corruption and integrity content and for encouraging voluntary participation from both staff and citizens. In particular, the entire staff, led by Chief Yang Young-seok, was acknowledged for earnestly carrying out anti-corruption and integrity activities in unison, receiving the highest scores from a panel of three judges and 74 voters.


The excellence awards went to Ilsan Seobu Police Station, Ansan Sangnok Police Station, and Gwangju Seobu Police Station. Following them, Seoul Gangdong Police Station, Jeonnam Damyang Police Station, Anyang Dongan Police Station, Daegu Gangbuk Police Station, Busan Nambu Police Station, and Gyeongbuk Gimcheon Police Station received merit awards. The grand prize-winning station was awarded a trophy, prize money, and a commendation from the Commissioner of the National Police Agency, with all staff receiving commendation points. The excellence award-winning stations received trophies and prize money.


This competition was planned to encourage frontline police stations that have strived to foster an honest organizational culture within the police and to share and spread best practices. Starting this year, it will be held annually in December. Woo Jong-su, Deputy Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated, "Integrity is the foundation of a competent and confident police force and a trusted and safe community for the public," adding, "We hope this competition will mark the beginning of a fresh breeze of integrity for all police officers nationwide."
