[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated regarding Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon's legal actions, including a 1 billion KRW civil lawsuit related to the Cheongdam-dong drinking party allegations, "I will thoroughly examine what is right and wrong" and added, "I have no intention of backing down even an inch."

On the 6th, through social media (SNS), Representative Kim said, "Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon has filed a 1 billion KRW civil lawsuit and reportedly also filed a complaint with the police," adding, "Since he says 'let's do it by the law,' I will also respond confidently according to the law."

He pointed out, "I hope the current Minister of Justice reflects once on whether it is appropriate to engage in such legal disputes." Representative Kim said, "The Minister of Justice holds the authority over prosecutor appointments, and prosecutors supervise police investigations," adding, "The police cannot help but be cautious of the Minister of Justice." He continued, "It is also a position that can exert influence over the courts. The Minister recommends candidates for Supreme Court justices and has a say in the appointment of new judges," and said, "Even if they suffered unfair treatment, past Ministers of Justice rarely proceeded to lawsuits for these reasons."

Regarding Minister Han filing a 1 billion KRW lawsuit, Representative Kim said, "Minister Han angrily snapped at my inquiry, saying 'What would I sue for?' I guess that meant I should sue for 1 billion KRW," and added, "I don't understand why the question 'Did you attend the drinking party?' is considered defamation." He said, "The 1 billion KRW lawsuit means they will not tolerate any allegations against President Yoon Seok-yeol and Minister Han Dong-hoon," and added, "They intend to silence me not only through criminal punishment but also with money."

Regarding the police complaint, Representative Kim said, "The case filed with the police will ultimately be decided by the prosecution," adding, "The prosecutors are currently very busy. They have no time to spare as they are busy going after former presidents and opposition party leaders, and now they have to catch minnows like me."

He added, "Just the other day, the weather was warm, but suddenly it turned cold," and said, "I believe public sentiment is no different."
