Drug Trafficking Information Tripled in 2 Years... Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee Requests Correction for 24,386 Cases

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The Korea Communications Standards Commission announced on the 6th that from January to November this year, it took corrective actions such as deleting and blocking access to a total of 24,386 cases of drug trafficking information.

This figure represents an increase of more than 43% compared to the total of 17,020 corrective requests for drug trafficking information last year. Compared to 8,130 cases in 2020, it has increased by approximately 200%.

The Commission stated, “As awareness of the social harm caused by drugs has heightened due to recent drug use incidents involving some celebrities, we are continuously monitoring related content and focusing our review capabilities by strengthening cooperation with related organizations such as the police.” They also urged, “More active reporting by internet users is urgently needed.”
