Graduate Program 'Smart Ocean Mobility' Initiative
Over 300 AI Experts from Korea and Abroad Attend

On the 6th, Jung Ki-sun, CEO of HD Hyundai, made these remarks while attending the 'HD Hyundai Group AI Forum' (HAIF), an industry-academia-research forum in the AI field jointly hosted by HD Hyundai Group and Seoul National University.
This forum was part of the 'Smart Ocean Mobility' graduate program at Seoul National University, which opened in September this year, and CEO Jung personally planned and led the event. The event, held at the Seoul National University Global Engineering Education Center, was attended by about 300 AI experts from industry, academia, and research institutions both domestic and international, including CEO Jung and Choi Haecheon, Vice President of Research at Seoul National University.
The forum began with a keynote speech titled "Core Machine Learning Technologies for Industrial Applications" by Professor Han Bohyung of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University, and was divided into three sessions: Autonomous Navigation and AI, Smart Yard and AI, and Data and AI.
In the Autonomous Navigation and AI session, the current commercialization status and future development plans of HD Hyundai Group's autonomous navigation solutions were shared, including AI solutions for autonomous ships and future visions. Discussions also covered the development status and plans of Hyundai Motor Company's autonomous driving technology and the potential for convergence with other industrial sectors.
In the Smart Yard and AI session, HD Hyundai Group explained the status and plans of the Smart Shipyard FOS (Future of Shipyard) project, aimed for completion by 2030, and strategies for advancing intelligent smart yards. LG Electronics also introduced its digital transformation and smart factory deployment directions.
In the Data and AI session, experts from leading big data companies such as Palantir from the U.S., which continues to collaborate with HD Hyundai Group in digital transformation, Microsoft, AWS, and OneWeb discussed the AI technology development roadmap for digital innovation in the manufacturing sector.
Vice President Choi said in his congratulatory remarks, "I expect that this first AI forum with HD Hyundai Group will serve as an opportunity to further enhance cooperation between the two institutions."
The forum featured speakers including practical experts from HD Hyundai Group affiliates such as Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Genuine, and Avikus, as well as Hyundai Motor Company, LG Electronics, Microsoft, Palantir, AWS (Amazon Web Services), OneWeb, Deloitte, PwC, Korean Register, and faculty members from Seoul National University and KAIST.
Meanwhile, HD Hyundai Group continues its cooperation for nurturing future talent in the AI field by partnering with Seoul National University to establish the graduate program in Smart Ocean Mobility.
