[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] "Although (the South Korean national soccer team) did not make it to the quarterfinals, I want to offer comfort through my album. Many people haven't slept since last night, and I haven't slept a wink either. I've been crying so much that my voice is hoarse."

Soprano Jo Sumi (60) cheerfully greeted at a press conference for her new album release held on the morning of the 6th at the Koreana Hotel on Sejong-daero, Jung-gu, Seoul, saying she had supported the Brazil match in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which ended 4 hours earlier.

When questions about the new album continued, Jo Sumi laughed and said, "Why don't you ask questions related to soccer?" When asked if she watched the World Cup, she replied, "As a fan who loves soccer, I send a lot of love, affection, and respect to the national team players this time. As a citizen, I am grateful."

Jo Sumi showed special affection, saying, "I am currently on tour, but I like soccer so much that I consider the World Cup an important event." She made people laugh by saying, "(Holding the World Cup) once every four years is ridiculous. It should be held every year."

She added, "The matches are mostly held at 4 a.m. or midnight, so I am very worried. I won't be able to see our players' appearances, but exciting soccer matches await. I try to take care of my condition." She emphasized, "Soccer is as great a joy in life as music."

Jo Sumi also added, "Music, sports, and food are universal languages that connect people."
