Support for 'Marriage Incentive Grants' Including Young Couples Creation and Marriage Cost Assistance Programs
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, plans to implement the population increase policy projects "Creating Young Couples" and "Marriage Expense Support Project" starting January 2023.
The "Creating Young Couples (Marriage Encouragement Fund)" project provides support funds of 5 million KRW. At least one spouse must have had a registered address in Yeongyang-gun for more than 2 years as of the marriage registration date, and both spouses must have had a registered address in Yeongyang-gun for more than 1 year as of the application date.
The support funds are paid one year after the marriage registration date, so young couples aged 19 to 49 who register their marriage after January 2023 can apply for the support funds starting from January 2024.
The "Marriage Expense Support Project" provides up to 3 million KRW in support and targets prospective young couples aged 19 to 49 who have had at least one party or the individual themselves registered as a resident in Yeongyang-gun for more than 1 year as of the wedding date and hold their wedding ceremony within Yeongyang-gun.
Additionally, for those who wish, Yeongyang-gun public facilities are available to be used as wedding venues.
Similar to the population increase policy projects implemented since December 2019, such as "Moving-in Congratulatory Money," "Young New Resident Housing Rent," and "Address Change Merit Incentive," applications and guidance for each project can be made through the respective eup and myeon offices.
County Governor O Do-chang stated, "The biggest issue in administration recently is population decline and local extinction. Yeongyang-gun is one of the most urgent areas nationwide facing population decline and local extinction problems. To overcome this, we will do our best to increase the number of new residents moving to Yeongyang-gun and to raise marriage and birth rates."
