[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seo-hee] Starting next year, the top 3 players in the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) season points ranking will be granted membership status on the DP World Tour.
On the 6th, JGTO and the DP World Tour agreed to award DP World Tour membership to the top 3 players in the next year's JGTO season points ranking.
Previously, the DP World Tour decided to grant PGA Tour cards to the top 10 players in the season points ranking starting next year. This opens another pathway for JGTO players to advance to the PGA Tour. Outstanding performance in Japan can lead players to progress through the DP World Tour and onto the PGA Tour.
In the case of the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour, only the top player in the points ranking is awarded a DP World Tour card.
Meanwhile, the DP World Tour plans to hold the ISPS Handa Championship in Omitama, Japan, in April next year. This tournament, established this year, was first held in Spain.
The DP World Tour also plans to hold a tournament in Korea following this event, but the title sponsor and venue have not yet been decided.
