[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] CJ Logistics delivered Salvation Army charity kettles filled with the spirit of sharing for the year-end and New Year season nationwide.
CJ Logistics announced on the 6th that it delivered over 800 street fundraising items, including charity kettles, handbells, piggy banks, and clothing used for Salvation Army charity fundraising, to Salvation Army bases across the country. All costs incurred during the delivery process are borne by CJ Logistics.
Since the 11th of last month, CJ Logistics has collected charity fundraising items from the underground warehouse at the Salvation Army Korea Headquarters located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and completed delivery to over 360 Salvation Army bases in 17 cities and provinces nationwide where street fundraising will take place.
During the fundraising activities throughout December, CJ Logistics will also be responsible for additional deliveries for the replacement and repair of worn or damaged fundraising items. This delivery support project has been ongoing for nine years since 2014, with a cumulative total of about 9,000 Salvation Army fundraising items delivered to date.
This year, the Salvation Army is conducting fundraising activities until the end of the year under the theme "Ring the Bell of Your Heart," which means "The Kindest Thing I Can Do This Winter." The fundraising goal for this year, which began with the opening ceremony on the 1st, is 6 billion KRW. Following last year, this year’s fundraising also uses digital charity kettles embedded with QR codes, allowing citizens to donate conveniently without cash.
Lee Ho-young, the Salvation Army representative, said, “Thanks to CJ Logistics, we have been relieved of the worry of sending fundraising items to Salvation Army bases nationwide on time every year,” and added, “CJ Logistics’ free delivery is a representative case of a company participating in fundraising activities in various forms beyond simply supporting logistics costs.”
Kim Hee-jun, ESG officer of CJ Logistics’ Sustainable Management Office, said, “Free delivery of Salvation Army charity items is one of the meaningful activities that leverage the characteristics of the logistics industry while contributing to the community,” and added, “We will continue to discover and implement ESG activities utilizing our core competency, logistics infrastructure.”
