Hankook Tire ESG Report Wins Gold at US 'LACP 2022 Spotlight Awards'

Full Scores in Four Categories: First Impression, Narrative, Design, and Creativity

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter Hankook Tire) announced on the 6th that its ‘2021/22 ESG Report’ won the Gold Award at the 'LACP 2022 Spotlight Awards' hosted by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP).

Hankook Tire’s ‘2021/22 ESG Report’ received the highest scores in 4 out of 6 evaluation categories, including first impression, narrative, design, and creativity, achieving a high score of 98 out of 100. Additionally, it was selected as one of the 'Worldwide Top 100' outstanding works chosen by LACP among companies worldwide.

Since 2010, Hankook Tire has published an ESG report sharing the company’s sustainability management activities, achievements, and mid-to-long-term strategies for the year. Especially, this year’s report detailed activity outcomes according to the newly established ESG vision system from last year, focusing on three priority areas: ▲environmentally friendly circular structure ▲sustainable products ▲responsible participation.

Furthermore, to actively participate in addressing the climate crisis, which has recently emerged as a global common issue, the report featured a detailed ‘Carbon Neutrality Roadmap’ in the highlight section, and strengthened reporting in accordance with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations compared to the previous year.

In addition, Hankook Tire continues various efforts to realize sustainable management. Following the establishment of the ESG Committee in July 2021, the company announced the ‘Corporate Governance Charter’ for greenhouse gas reduction centered on the board of directors last May, continuously improving ESG levels across the entire organization. In September, it became the first in the tire industry to submit a Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) greenhouse gas reduction goal, embarking on full-scale carbon neutrality as a global ESG management leader.
