[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Kumho Tire announced on the 6th that it achieved excellent results in the 2022 external ESG evaluations by receiving a Silver Medal from the global ESG evaluation agency Ecovadis and an overall B+ rating from the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS).
Ecovadis, established in France, is an ESG evaluation platform used by more than 100,000 companies in 175 countries worldwide. The Silver Medal is awarded only to companies in the top 25% or higher based on ESG evaluation results. KCGS conducted environmental (E), social (S), and governance (G) evaluations for about 1,000 listed companies this year. Kumho Tire received B, A, and B grades respectively, earning an overall B+ rating.
Kumho Tire was recognized for strengths such as ▲establishing a 2045 carbon neutrality roadmap and joining SBTi ▲calculating Scope 3 emissions and building a greenhouse gas inventory ▲improvements in human rights education, work-family balance, and flexible working methods ▲ESG management of partner companies and training for purchasing managers.
CEO Jeong Il-taek stated, "Uncertainties in the global supply chain and the paradigm shift toward eco-friendly automotive industries are taking place," adding, "We will continue to promote ESG management to flexibly respond to the global market environment and become a sustainable company."
