[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] On the 5th, Woo Won-sik, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on former lawmaker Park Young-sun's concern about the possibility of the Democratic Party splitting, saying, "In this situation, those who talk about splitting beyond division may be driven by selfish interests to benefit themselves even if it plunges the party into a greater crisis, which is worrisome."

Woo appeared on TBS Radio's 'Shin Jang-sik's Shin Jang Open' that night and said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol's political retaliation is directed not only at Representative Lee Jae-myung but also at former President Moon Jae-in, so the distinction between pro-Lee and pro-Moon factions is meaningless. We must unite tightly to protect the democratic forces and the people in this critical situation."

He continued, "There are significant external difficulties and severe constraints such as prosecutorial power, so attacking internally first is not an appropriate way to fight," emphasizing, "Now is the time to fight against the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the prosecution, not to cause internal strife."

Former lawmaker Park appeared on KBS Radio's program 'Joo Jin-woo Live' on the 30th of last month and, when asked by the host if she still thought the party might split after warning about the possibility, said, "At that time, I said that (Representative Lee) should not show the appearance of a tiger in a cat's skin," adding, "It seems to be becoming similar to that, which is very painful."

In June, Park attended a forum of the Northern Economic and Cultural Institute held in Gwangju and, when asked about Representative Lee Jae-myung's possible candidacy for the 'August 28 party convention,' she mentioned, "Isn't there a possibility of a split?" She added, "(Representative Lee) needs time for self-reflection as the person responsible for the presidential and local elections."

Meanwhile, regarding criticism that the Lee Jae-myung leadership has shown weak achievements in public welfare, Woo said, "The Yoon Seok-yeol government is creating a state of public welfare disappearance," adding, "Therefore, the role of Representative Lee Jae-myung is not being properly highlighted. After all, it takes two hands to clap."

Woo added, "Representative Lee Jae-myung is making efforts that are by no means lacking compared to any previous Democratic Party leader. Even during this budget review process, he is working to increase funding for local currency, public rental housing, youth small business owners, and senior-related projects that the Yoon Seok-yeol government has reduced."
