Yoon Holds Summit with Vietnamese President... "Let's Prepare for a New 30 Years"

State Guest Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of Vietnam, Visiting Korea: "Enhancing Cooperative Relations for Regional Peace" Responds

[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] On the 5th, President Yoon Suk-yeol held a summit meeting with Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of Vietnam, stating, "The two countries have developed a model of mutually beneficial cooperation over the past 30 years," and added, "Now, let us prepare for the next 30 years." President Phuc responded, "Vietnam consistently values its relationship with Korea in its foreign policy and will work together with Korea to contribute to the joint prosperity of both countries as well as peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world."

President Yoon mentioned at the Korea-Vietnam summit held at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon, "In the rapidly changing international order, it benefits both countries for Korea and Vietnam to unite and foster peace and prosperity in the region."

In particular, President Yoon said, "Vietnam is one of our top four trading partners, and Korea has emerged as the largest investor in Vietnam," adding, "The peoples of both countries have become close neighbors, and the approximately 80,000 Korean-Vietnamese families in Korea serve as a bridge connecting the two nations." He continued, "The meeting with President Phuc, who has always strongly supported and cared for the Korean people and Korean companies, will celebrate the brilliant development of the first generation of Korea-Vietnam relations and serve as a starting point to vigorously open a new generation."

President Phuc replied, "Thank you for the kind and warm hospitality." Regarding the relationship with Korea, he said, "Vietnam consistently values its relationship with Korea in its foreign policy," and mentioned, "Let us enhance our cooperative relationship to contribute to the joint prosperity of both countries and to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world."

Meanwhile, President Phuc is ranked second in Vietnam's power hierarchy, following Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party. He visited Korea as a state guest the day before, invited by President Yoon to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
