60s Woman Rescued After Vehicle Falls Into Sea at Jeju Hallim Port

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A woman in her 60s was rescued by the Jeju Coast Guard after a passenger car (1 occupant) fell into the sea at Hallim Port in Jeju City.

According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 5th, a report was received at 12:41 PM that a vehicle with a person inside had fallen into the sea within Hallim Port, Jeju City.

Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Coast Guard dispatched the Hallim Police Substation and at 12:44 PM discovered driver A (female in her 60s, local resident) holding onto a mooring line and the vehicle submerged in the sea.

The Jeju Coast Guard immediately entered the water to rescue A, then lifted her to land and safely handed her over to the 119 emergency medical team. The detailed circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.

A Jeju Coast Guard official stated, “When a vehicle falls into the sea, the driver can be pulled in as well, so special caution is required,” and added, “Driving and parking near the coast and inside ports is very dangerous, so please be especially careful and double-check that vehicles are properly parked or stopped.”
