[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Eugene Robot's GoCart will serve as a delivery robot for three months in the underground shopping mall at Bupyeong Station, Incheon.
This is part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's public project, the 'AI·5G-based Large-scale Robot Demonstration Project.'
On the 5th, Eugene Robot, a company specializing in autonomous driving solutions, announced that the autonomous logistics delivery robot GoCart will be deployed to transport goods in the underground shopping mall at Bupyeong Station, Incheon Metropolitan City. It was selected in May through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's public project and held its launch ceremony on November 25.
This project, with a total budget of 1.9 billion KRW, is scheduled to proceed in two phases until November next year. During this period, a total of 15 robots of five types, including delivery robots, guide robots, baking robots, and surveillance reconnaissance robots, will be demonstrated. The goal is to introduce various types and numbers of autonomous driving robots in densely populated facilities such as large shopping malls and stations with heavy foot traffic to enhance citizens' convenience and widely disseminate and expand the use of robots.
GoCart is responsible for delivering goods between stores located within the underground shopping mall. In particular, to improve user convenience and work efficiency, an autonomous driving function is applied that allows users to call the robot via a mobile app, specify the route, load items, and safely move to the destination. During the project period, a total of four GoCarts will be installed in two phases, operating around the shopping mall.
