[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Jeju Air announced on the 5th that it will resume flights on the Incheon·Busan~Taipei routes with a schedule of seven times a week starting January 18 next year. This comes 2 years and 11 months after the suspension due to COVID-19 in February 2020.
In 2019, before COVID-19, Jeju Air operated 732 flights on the Incheon~Taipei route, transporting approximately 127,100 passengers with a high load factor of about 92%. On the Busan~Taipei route, 826 flights carried around 129,200 passengers, showing a load factor of about 85%.
A Jeju Air official said, “Taipei has long been a route popular among many travelers,” adding, “With vaccination, no quarantine, and visa-free travel possible without a PCR negative certificate, we expect more travelers to visit.”
To coincide with the resumption of the Taipei route, Jeju Air will run a promotion offering discounted tickets for travel between January 18 and March 25 next year, with the promotion running until 5 p.m. on December 18.
Based on the total one-way fare including fuel surcharges and airport facility charges, tickets will be sold starting from 146,600 KRW for Incheon~Taipei and 128,600 KRW for Busan~Taipei. Discount codes offering up to 10% off depending on the fare will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, a neck pillow giveaway event will be held for passengers traveling during the 15 days from January 18 to February 1 next year.
