[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Four ‘Ulsan City Masters’ have been selected this year, and a certificate and incentive payment ceremony will be held.
Ulsan City announced that on the 5th at 4:30 PM in the mayor’s office, Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom will present certificates and technical incentive payments to the four individuals selected as Ulsan Metropolitan City Masters for 2022.
This year’s masters are Lee Young-shin (Hyundai Heavy Industries) in shipbuilding, Heo Won-seok (Hyundai Mipo Dockyard) in welding, Kim Jin-guk (Hyundai Heavy Industries) in casting, and Baek Jong-seon (Hyundai Electric) in electricity, totaling four people.
The masters will receive a certificate along with a technical incentive payment of 10 million KRW (2 million KRW annually for 5 years) and will be inducted into the ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Masters Hall of Fame’ on the 27th.
The Ulsan City Masters were selected through document and interview evaluations and on-site inspections conducted by 13 judges, including Korean Masters, from 19 applicants who applied through a public announcement in September. The final judging committee meeting was held on November 11.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, “In the 8th term of the elected government, the technical incentive payment was increased from 5 million KRW to 10 million KRW to honor skilled technicians. The masters are excellent talents essential to industrial sites and are the ones who carry on the legacy of Ulsan as an industrial city.”
The Ulsan City Master system, started in 2015, is a skilled technician promotion project designed to raise social awareness of local skilled technology and improve the status of skilled technicians. With this year’s four additions, a total of 33 people have been selected as Ulsan Metropolitan City Masters.
