Kim Sian Ties for 28th at Indonesian Masters, Secures 1st Place Prize Money
Following First Pro Win in March, Reaches 2 Wins This Year; Kim Bio Takes 2nd in Prize Money
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seohee] Kim Si-hwan (USA, photo) secured the top prize money title in the final tournament of the Asian Tour 2022 season.
On the 4th (local time), Kim Si-hwan shot 3 birdies and 1 bogey for a 2-under-par 70 in the final round of the Indonesian Masters (total prize money $1.5 million), the last event of the Asian Tour 2022 season, held at Royal Jakarta Golf Club (par 72) in Indonesia. He finished tied for 28th place with a total score of 6-under-par 282.
Adding $12,250 in prize money, Kim Si-hwan's season earnings reached $627,458, crowning him the top money winner of this year's Asian Tour. Kim Bi-o aimed for a last-minute comeback but settled for second place with $599,609. Last season's Asian Tour top money winner was Kim Joo-hyung.
Turning professional in 2011, Kim Si-hwan had his best year yet. In March, he earned his first victory in 10 years since his debut at the Asian Tour International Series in Thailand, followed by another win in April at the Trust Golf Asian Mixed Stableford Challenge. He celebrated the "best birthday" by clinching the top prize money title in the final tournament held on his birthday.
"I feel very good," said Kim Si-hwan. "Finally, the tough season is over, and I want to rest soon. I don't think I can do anything today," he shared his thoughts.
