[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] 'Hazardous material manufacturing sites' such as gas stations in Gyeonggi-do must submit the inspection results of hazardous facilities by the end of this year. This is due to the full enforcement of the revised 'Hazardous Materials Safety Control Act' from October last year, which was amended in 2020.
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters urged managers of 'hazardous material manufacturing sites,' including fuel storage tanks in the province, to conduct regular inspections within the year and submit the inspection results to the relevant fire stations.
Manufacturing sites refer to places that manufacture, store, or handle hazardous materials exceeding designated quantities, such as pharmaceutical or chemical storage facilities, fuel tanks, and gas stations.
Managers of hazardous material manufacturing sites must conduct at least one regular inspection of hazardous material facilities annually on their own and submit the inspection results to the relevant fire station within 30 days from the inspection date.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 4th that, as of October, only 7,531 out of 11,521 sites subject to regular inspection, accounting for 65.3% of the total, had submitted their inspection results.
